Kathryn is a chartered physiotherapist working within the NHS as a senior physiotherapist as well as providing physiotherapy treatment for equine and canine clients.
Kathryn gradated with a BSc (hons) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Hertfordshire in 2010. She went on to work as a physiotherapist within the NHS, completing junior rotations in neuro rehab, musculoskeletal outpatients, surgical and medical respiratory. She then secured a more senior post where she had a keen interest in the emergency department and the acute assessment unit. She has since gone on to specialise as a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist working within the NHS.
She completed her postgraduate diploma in veterinary physiotherapy at the University of the West of England and Hartpury College in 2014. Since qualifying Kathryn has worked within an established veterinary physiotherapy in practice in Hampshire where she treated a variety of predominantly canine clients.
She gained experience with canine hydrotherapy (some dogs enjoyed their swimming more than others!), use of a treadmill to aid rehabilitation, and developing an exercise programme for dogs and owners to complete at home. Kathryn has been able to work closely with local veterinary practices, as well as larger specialist veterinary referral centres in Surrey and Hampshire. These practices have also enabled her the opportunity to observe surgical procedures, giving her greater understanding of procedures your pet may have experienced. Throughout her training, Kathryn was able to spend time working with experienced and respected veterinary phsyiotherapists, which allowed her to treat some well known equine clients at some of the countries top showjumping yards. She has also treated smaller clients too, including one ferret patient.
Kathryn has been a keen horse rider since the age of 4, having competed in local showjumping and cross country events, as well as breaking in and developing her own horse. She grew up around dogs, and although she sadly lost her Golden Retriever Jake last year, she hopes to welcome another furry friend into the house soon. Kathryn also has experience with smaller animals too, having owned numerous rabbits and guinea pigs over the years.
Kathryn is based in Basingstoke, Hampshire, but covers Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Berkshire as well.
She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)* and a category A member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) and is fully insured.
*The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy is the professional, educational and trade union body for the UK’s 50,000 chartered physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and associates.
